Servicing

BS 5839 recommends a competent technician inspects your system at least every six months. We hold maintenance contracts for retail estates, offices and property managers — servicing, false-alarm management and paperwork your insurer will actually accept.

How often should a commercial fire alarm be serviced?

BS 5839-1 recommends the system is inspected and serviced by a competent person at intervals of no more than 6 months. We offer service contracts with documented visits — the certificates your insurer and fire risk assessor expect to see.

Who is legally responsible for the fire alarm in our building?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the 'responsible person' — usually the employer, building owner or facilities manager — must ensure the premises has appropriate fire detection and that it's maintained. Our design, installation and servicing gives you the documented compliance trail.

What do fire alarm categories like L1 and P2 mean?

Categories define what the system protects: L categories protect life (L1 covers the whole building, down to L5 for specific risks), P categories protect property, and M is a manual-only system. Your fire risk assessment determines the category — we design and install to it, and we'll flag it if the assessment and the system don't match.

Do you take over existing fire alarm systems?

Yes — we regularly take over servicing of systems we didn't install, starting with a condition survey so you know exactly what you've got and whether it still matches your fire risk assessment.
